Life Map

Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! Romans 5:9-10

Sometimes it’s easier for us to grasp that Jesus died to save us than it is to understand that he remains concerned as we try to live out our lives as His disciples. Perhaps this is because the life part is completely personal. Although we say Jesus would  have died for me if I were the only person on earth, we don’t really have to rely on that because we aren’t alone on this planet. He does care what each of us does with the grace He gives us. Part of what we get with grace is a life map.

This is not a map that tells us exactly where we will go; it is a promise that He will be our life and our Lord, that He will accompany us and empower us for every destination and every path. Jeremiah, David (2006-03-07). Captured by Grace: No One Is Beyond the Reach of a Loving God (p. 96). Thomas Nelson. Kindle Edition.

I really need a map. Not just to know where I should be going and how to get there, but also just to know where I am. I often get confused as to whether I’m where I should be or if I have drifted from the path. Sometimes I feel I’m right where God would have me; sometimes I feel it’s hard for even God to find me.

We are all destined for heaven, but we have intermediate destinations. How are we doing on that trip? Do we know where we are going? Do we even know where we are?
