Can We Just Give Lauren a Break?

Alright you “Christians,” can you just give Lauren Daigle a break. She is being criticized for appearing on secular shows and, God forbid, a show hosted by gay. Some of her songs don’t mention God. One of her Christmas songs uses the word “gay.” As in “don we now our gay… People get a life.

Let’s look in the mirror:

Do you mention God in every conversation? Better still do you mention Him in any conversation?

Do you ever sing or hum a non-Christian song? Are you demon possessed?

Do you refuse to go anywhere where sinners might be? Like maybe your house.

Let me start the confessions out. Here goes:

I listen to music while I swim. Going back and forth in a pool for an hour can get boring. I listen to music to fall asleep. I listen while I work. I love music but can not make a note with my voice or anything else. In heaven, I know I will sing, well like Lauren Daigle, and as a plus play the drums.

My playlists include Lauren, Harvest, Don Francisco, Keith Green, Christian artists you know and some you are too young to have known and now here comes the confession. I also include the Beatles, Fleetwood Mac and… are you ready for it…the world’s greatest rock and roll band: The Rolling Stones. Try to swim slow to 19th Nervous breakdown. I don’t rely on Jager for my theology, but he does a hell of a job keeping my beat up.

Take the beam out of your own eye. Lauren Daigle has faults, I’m sure. So do I. So do you. I am not on a national tour signing mostly about Jesus.  I haven’t made three albums with Christian songs breaking into secular top charts.

GIve Lauren a break and get off your butts and do something for Jesus instead of criticizing those who do. Maybe you need to worry about your Heart of Stone and finding Satisfaction in much life has to offer, but is too “worldly” for your attention. If not Get Off of My Cloud. See what I did there?

And now back to your regularly scheduled programs. Most of which not only don’t mention God but which you would be embarrassed to watch with kids around.

I’m turning my music back on to block out the roar of hypocrisy.

Later.
