N Sync

I’m back. I feel back in sync. No not these guys. They are N Sync. I can’t sing a lick.

But I am in sync. It could be the 9 plus hours of Nyquil assisted sleep I just got, but I expect not. I believe it was the time I spent yesterday with the people of God. Joe Hadwin and I rode over to Baton Rouge for the first Kairos training meeting. Just the ride there and back would have been enough, without the meeting. Hearing Joe passionately tell his story of God’s touch on His life and his journey back from spiritual and physical death is enough to re-sync anyone.

But I got more. I got to spend hours with forty something who had received something from God and who confidently expect to receive more, not in physical blessings but in the adrenaline rush you get from watching God work.

Acts 26:17-18 (New King James Version)

17 I will deliver you from the Jewish people, as well as from the Gentiles, to whom I now send you, 18 to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.’

To get to witness the eye opening described here is a rush second only to experiencing the eye opening yourself.  OC reminds us that “the only sign that a man is saved is that he has received something from Jesus Christ. Our part as workers for God is to open men’s eyes that they may turn themselves from darkness to light.”

We open eyes by demonstrating the Agape love of God; impossible on the strength of man alone. When demonstrated, therefore, it is evidence of the presence and action of God in the lives of men. It incites desire for it in those who observe it.

It’s an amazing thing to witness the “eye opening.” But as OC says, that’s not salvation…that’s conversion. Conversion is not regeneration. Conversion is the change in direction a man takes.   The regeneration is that thing received from God “forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.”  The act of God makes it possible for the change in direction to become a change of life.

Read today’s Utmost. Unlike yesterday’s,  it beams with clarity. As the Church today, we focus improperly on what we do: Make a decision, Turn from sin, Accept Jesus. These things are not miraculous but the natural consequence of “seeing the light.” What God does is miraculous, forgiveness and the inheritance of a regeneration, a sanctification made possible by our faith but created by his Grace.

I’m back. Eyes reopened after hours of sleep and reinvigorated by witnessing the miracle of God’s work.

Need a little re-syncing? Spend some time where He’s working.

And be blessed.
