The Power of the Open Hand

39 If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give it up for me, you will find it. Matthew 10:39

One of the hardest lessons to learn is that to really gain something you have to let it go. Tightly gripping something in your hand kills and smothers it. The war hero is a hero because he’s let go of his life long ego. Living is not the most important thing. The Christian is really following Christ when He lets go of his life. Then he really starts to live.
With the grip comes the illusion of control. If I hold on to something I believe that I can make it what I want it to be. It will do what I tell it to do. That might have some value  if we had any clue as to what to do. We are clueless. We can’t direct our lives because we don’t know what’s best for us
Let go.  Let God. It’s more than a wise saying. It’s the only way to live.
